I read this book during the pandemic lockdown in 2020, enjoyed this book; it’s simple and easy to read. Overall I will rate this book with four stars. Posted this review on my other blog
We can divide this book into two parts: startups, business philosophies and other Thiel’s philosophies. The first part is what you will enjoy while reading the book, the second part where the focus is on Thiel philosophy is a bit whacky. Some of the Thiel’s’ ideas and advice now seem a bit outdated, especially after Covid-19, which changes how we operate the businesses.
Here are a few profound takeaways from the book
- Concept of creating a monopoly is worth reading.
- Businesses are for value creation which can’t be defined or reduced to just a formula.
- Humans and Computers are not in competition, nor it will substitute humans, computers are there to complement humans. Future belongs to those businesses which will empower people rather than making people obsolete.
- Sales are the most critical aspect of any business. It can make or break one’s business, so focus on it and know your numbers.
Overall, an excellent & highly recommended book on the startup world.
